Celebrate Nonfiction

Exploring the Joy of Nonfiction Reading and Writing

Welcome Back!

If you’re a regular reader of Celebrate Nonfiction, you might be surprised to see me
posting on Tuesday. Ever since I started this blog way back in 2009, I’ve
posted three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This year I’ve decided
to scale back a bit and am now planning to post twice a week on Tuesday and
Thursday. We’ll see how it goes.

Even
though there will be fewer posts, I think you’ll still find a lot of valuable
information here. I’ve got some exciting ideas kicking around in my head and
can’t wait to share them with you.

To get
things started,
here’s a flyer I created with literacy
professors Mary Ann Cappiello and Xenia
Hadjioannou as part of the #KidsLoveNonfiction campaign.

We hope
you’ll use it yourself and email this PDF with live links to friends and
colleagues. You can also post it on social media
along with the hashtag #KidsLoveNonfiction. Feel free to use the JPG social media banners below
to draw more attention to your post.

Since studies show that many children
prefer nonfiction, and many more enjoy fiction and nonfiction equally,
wouldn’t it be great if we all
shared more nonfiction book with young people this fall?

The goal of the #KidsLoveNonfiction
campaign
is to raise awareness of all that today’s nonfiction books
have to offer young readers at home and at school. It’s vitally important to
give children access to books they love.

Have a great school year, Everyone!

  1. When I send writers and teachers to your blog, I always encourage them to visit when they have time to appreciate the rabbit trails. You already have so many incredible posts.
