Today I’m finishing up my posts for 2023 with
my annual list of favorite STEM books. I usually try to limit it to 10 titles, but this
year’s list includes an astonishing 15 books because I just couldn’t narrow it down. It was
a stellar year for nonfiction, and for STEM titles in particular.
Six of the books appeared on from my Sibert Smackdown
list a few weeks ago:
Ancestory: The Mystery and Majesty of
Ancient Cave Art by Hannah Salyer
The Book of Turtles Sy Montgomery and Matt Patterson
Butt or Face? A Hilarious Animal Guessing Game Book for Kids by Kari Lavelle
The Fire of Stars: The Life and Brilliance of the woman Who Discovered
What Stars Are Made Of by Kirsten Larson and Katherine
Roy
Nature Is a Sculptor: Weathering and Erosion by Heather Ferranti Kinser
Rise to the Sky: How the World’s tallest Trees Grow Up by Rebecca Hirsch and Mia Posada
I’m also including nine additional titles that
you won’t want to miss:

the Ocean’s Darkest Depths by Lindsey Leigh
Fungi Grow by Maria Gianferrari
